How Many Links Should Your Link in Bio Have?

There's no magic number, but there is a good rule: every link on the page should have a clear reason to be there, and the most important one should be first.

For most creators that ends up being somewhere around four to seven links. Here's how to get to the right number for you.

Why fewer links usually work better

Someone tapping your bio link has usually just seen one post. They're curious, and they'll give your page a few seconds. Two things happen when the page is long:

  • The important link gets lost. Your new release has the same weight as a link you added two years ago.
  • People choose nothing. When every option looks equal, it's easy to close the page instead.
A short page makes the decision easy. The visitor sees what you want them to do, and does it.

Sort your links into three groups

Write down every link you have, then put each one in a group.

1. Right now

The one thing you're pushing this week or this month: a release, a launch, an event, a sale. This goes at the top, alone.

2. Always

The things that never stop mattering: your main platform, your shop, your newsletter, how to contact you. These sit under the top link.

3. Nice to have

Old projects, an interview from last year, a playlist you made once. Most of these can go. If one gets real taps, it can stay near the bottom.

Order matters more than count

People read top to bottom and stop early, so the order of your page is its strategy:

  1. The "right now" link
  2. Your most important "always" link
  3. The rest of your "always" links
  4. Anything else
Social profiles work best as small icons along the top or bottom, rather than full-width buttons. They're useful, but they're rarely why someone tapped your link.

Let your clicks decide

After a week or two, look at which links get tapped. A link nobody taps is taking attention from one people want. Move it down, rewrite its title, or remove it.

Link titles matter too. "Listen to the new single" tells people what they get. "New music" doesn't.

When to make a second page instead

If you have two audiences that want different things, such as fans and brands, or two projects that don't overlap, a second page often works better than one long page.

On LiteLinks the free plan gives you 1 page with up to 5 links. Lite gives you 3 pages and 25 links for $3.99 a month or $2.99 billed yearly, and Pro gives you 10 pages and 100 links.

A quick checklist

  • Is the first link the thing you most want people to do this week?
  • Does every link say what the visitor gets?
  • Would anyone miss each link if it disappeared?
  • Are your socials icons rather than buttons?
  • Have you checked your clicks in the last month?
