How to Schedule Links for a Launch (So Your Page Updates Itself)

Launches rarely happen at a convenient time. A release drops at midnight, a sale starts at 9am in another time zone, an event ends while you're on stage. Scheduled links let your page change on its own at exactly the right moment.

What a scheduled link is

A scheduled link has a start time, an end time or both:

  • Start time: the link stays hidden until then, then appears.
  • End time: the link disappears after then.
  • Both: the link is only visible during that window.
Before its start time, the link doesn't show on your page at all, and its title isn't used in your page's search or share preview either. That makes scheduled links good for surprise drops.

On LiteLinks, scheduled links are part of Pro. You set the times in the link editor, in your own time zone, and the page switches over within about a minute.

Common setups

Music release

  • Pre-save link: ends at release time
  • Listen link: starts at release time
  • Countdown: ends at release time
At midnight the page changes from "pre-save" to "listen" with nobody touching it.

Sale or discount

  • Sale link: starts when the sale opens, ends when it closes
  • Regular shop link: always on, lower on the page
When the sale ends, the urgent link disappears instead of sitting there out of date.

Event

  • Tickets link: ends when the event starts
  • Live stream or "Watch now" link: starts at the event time, ends when it finishes
  • Recording or photos link: starts after the event

Limited offer for a newsletter or stream

  • Offer link: starts when you announce it, ends after 24 or 48 hours

Plan the launch on one screen

Before launch day, set up every link in its final position:

  1. Add the link that goes live at launch and set its start time.
  2. Set an end time on anything that should disappear at launch, such as the pre-save or the countdown.
  3. Order your links as they should look after the launch. Hidden links don't take up space before they appear.
  4. Check every start and end time one more time.

Double-check the time

Most scheduling mistakes are about time, not links:

  • Time zone: you enter times in your own time zone. If your launch is announced in another region's time, convert it first.
  • AM and PM: midnight at the start of Friday is 12:00 AM Friday, not Friday night.
  • End times: make sure an end time is after the start time.

Check it went live

Set a reminder for a couple of minutes after launch and open your page. If the link is there, post your "out now" announcement. Then check your analytics over the next few days to see how the launch link performed.
