How to Use Discount Codes in Your Link in Bio
A discount code is a small nudge that turns "I'll look later" into a purchase. Shared from your link-in-bio page, it's easy for followers to find, easy to use and easy to track. Here's how to do it well, whether the code is for your own shop or a sponsor's.
Make the code easy to find
A code mentioned once in a video is forgotten by checkout. Put it on your page as its own link with a clear title:
- "15% off your first order"
- "Free shipping this weekend"
- "20% off [Brand] with my code"
Use one code per audience
If you share codes in several places, give each its own:
- One for Instagram followers
- One for your newsletter
- One for a podcast or stream
Make it time-bound, honestly
A deadline makes people act:
- "Ends Sunday at midnight"
- "First 50 orders"
Codes for sponsors
Brands judge sponsorships partly on how often their code is used. Make it easy:
- Give the current sponsor a clear spot near the top while the deal runs.
- Say what the code gets people, not just the brand name.
- Disclose the partnership clearly, as required where you live and by the platforms you post on.
Check the code before you post
- Create the code in your shop and test it at checkout.
- Check what it applies to: everything, one collection, first orders only?
- Make sure it isn't case-sensitive, or show it exactly as it must be typed.
Measure it
Compare code uses against taps on the code link. Lots of taps but few uses can mean the code doesn't work, or the discount isn't enough to tip people over. Add UTM parameters to the shop link to see the whole path in your analytics.
