How to Take Tips From Fans With Your Link in Bio

Some of your audience wants to support you directly, not through ads or subscriptions, just a one-off "thanks, this helped". A tip link on your page gives them an easy way to do it. Done well, it feels like a thank-you, not a request.

Pick a tipping service

You'll need somewhere that accepts the payment. Common choices include Ko-fi, Buy Me a Coffee, PayPal and Stripe payment links. Look at:

  • Fees: what the service keeps from each tip
  • Payouts: how and when the money reaches you
  • What fans see: whether they need an account to tip
  • Extras: memberships, shop items or messages from supporters
Fees and features change, so check each service's current pricing before you choose.

Add it to your page

Once you have a tipping page, add it to your link in bio. On LiteLinks Pro, the tip jar link gives it a button designed to stand out. LiteLinks doesn't process the payment or take a cut; the button sends fans to the tipping service you use.

On any plan, you can also add it as a normal link.

Where to put it

Not at the top. A visitor who's just discovered you isn't ready to tip. Put it after the things that earn the tip:

  1. Your latest video, episode, song or post
  2. A way to stay in touch
  3. Your tip link
  4. Everything else
The exception: right after something big. A popular video, a free resource people loved or a fundraiser stream is a good time to move it up for a few days.

What to call it

"Donate" can feel heavy. Friendly, specific titles work better:

  • "Buy me a coffee if this helped"
  • "Tip the band, keep the van running"
  • "Support the podcast, every bit helps"
  • "Liked the free template? Leave a tip"
Saying what the money pays for (gear, hosting, studio time, the next video) gives people a reason.

Say it out loud

A link on your page is easy to miss. Mention it now and then, briefly and without guilt:

  • At the end of a video or episode: "If you want to support the show, there's a tip link on my page."
  • After sharing something free: "This will always be free; if it helped, tips are welcome."
Once in a while is enough. Asking every post wears people out.

Thank people

People who tip remember being thanked. Depending on the service, you can reply to supporters' messages, thank them by name on stream or in a post (if they're happy with that) or send a short thank-you email.

Tips alongside everything else

Tips work best as one option among several. Some fans will tip; others would rather buy merch or join your email list. Offer a couple of ways to support you and let people pick.
