How to Sell Merch From Your Link in Bio

Merch is one of the most direct ways to earn from your audience, and for many fans, buying a shirt or a print is how they show support. Your link-in-bio page is usually where that purchase starts. Here's how to set it up so more visitors end up at checkout.

Link to the store, then to the best product

One "Shop" link is fine, but a specific product usually does better:

  1. The newest or best-selling item, linked straight to its product page
  2. The full store, for people who want to browse
"New: tour hoodie, back in black" gets more taps than "Merch". Linking straight to the product removes a step between interest and checkout. For more on titles, see link titles that get clicks.

Show the products

People buy merch with their eyes. A small gallery of product photos on your page shows the goods before anyone taps through. Image galleries are on the LiteLinks Lite plan, and free accounts can choose them as their one unlocked embed type.

Use clear photos, ideally on a person rather than flat on a table.

Run drops, not just a shop

A store that's always open is easy to put off visiting. A drop gives people a reason to act now.

  • Before: a countdown to the drop at the top of your page, and posts showing the design
  • On the day: swap the countdown for the product link, and post "Out now, link in bio"
  • After: move the product down when it sells out, or mark it "Last few"
Countdowns are on the Lite plan. On Pro, a scheduled link can appear at the exact drop time, so the link goes live even if you're asleep.

Discount codes

A code can tip someone from "maybe later" to buying:

  • A code for newsletter subscribers
  • A code for stream viewers or podcast listeners
  • A code for a limited time around a launch
LiteLinks Pro has a discount-code link that shows the code on your page and copies it in one tap, so fans don't need to remember it at checkout. Make sure the code works in your store before you post it.

Put merch in the right spot

Merch shouldn't always be your top link. Someone who's never heard of you won't buy a shirt first. A good default:

  • Normally: merch third or fourth, after your latest content and a way to stay in touch
  • During a drop or a tour: merch at the top

Where to host the store

LiteLinks links to your store wherever it is: Shopify, Etsy, Bandcamp, a print-on-demand service or your own site. Pick the store based on how you make and ship products. Your page just needs the link.

Keep it fresh

  • Remove sold-out items, or label them clearly
  • Update photos when new stock arrives
  • Check which product links get tapped, and lead with the winners
Use UTM parameters on store links to see which taps turn into orders in your store's analytics.
